Dorper - Standard of the breed
- General Aspect - Symmetrical sheep, well formed, balanced. Strong, robust, muscular. Vigorous but calm.
- Aptitudes - Meat and skin. Over the world market the dorper's skin is called CAPE GLOVERS.
- Head - Strong and long. The eyes are big and far from each other, also well protected.
- Neck - Medium, wide and with great amount of meat.
- Body - Large and muscular shoulders, parallels and well connected to the body. Chest medium large, deep and prominent compared to the shoulders. It has long, deep and wide body and also arched ribs and great large loin. The ventral line is long and straight.
- Limbs - Strong. Black hooves usually, but it is possible to have light lines.
- Skin - The space between the nostrils, lips and around the eyes may be pink on the white Dorper or black on the black Dorper. There is colorful skin on the white Dorper around the eyes, under the tail and on the udder and nipples. It is possible to have other stains on the ears and bellow the ventral line.
- Coat - The ideal is to have a white sheep with black hair over the head an neck only. Soft and short coat on the body, there might be a mix of wool and hair over the back. Over the chest, belly and limbs the hair is normally thicker. A few black stains on the body and legs are permitted. The white Dorper is totally white.
- Specific Defects - Animal almost all covered by wool. Big horns. Animals with huge stains or all blacks.
- Medium high - Females 60-65 cm. Males 65-75cm.
- Medium weight - Females 44-60 Kg. Males 55-70Kg.
There might exist animal with weight over 90 Kg.
