The actual situation of the production of goats and sheep in Brazil is very peculiar. That phenomenon is observed due to the inversion of the productive system. Many produces are attracted by the transitory high values of the pure-blooded animals and forget that a productive chain is necessary to reward all the segments of this project in order to attempt the huge demand of meat that the country obligated to import every year.
There is also a difficulty to quantify the goat and sheep flocks existents in Brazil. The government doesn't make a counting since 2005. However, it is esteem that there are here about 30 million goats and sheep, which is just a few to a continental dimensions country. There could be easily 150 millions animals in here, considering that there are more than 190 million cattle heads, the biggest commercial flock in the world.
It is right, however, that the Brazil has a vocation to the agribusiness, due to the good weather and territory. It is sure that in some time it will become a huge goat and sheep meat producer. The actual situation of importer will chance. This country will be a huge exporter, one of the world's biggest, making many business opportunities to this market producers.
